I guess I am, first of all, a Kimura fan. I have watched most of his dramas. Began with Love Generation and then I was forever hooked. His acting is under appreciated, if I can say that with all the awards he’s garnered.
But the last couple of them, I didn’t enjoy.
Of his dramas, Pride has to be my favorite. I have gone back and watched Love Generation, Long Vacation & Beautiful Life, but it’s not the same as Pride. I could watch Pride again and again — I do skip past a couple of the episodes — I don’t like Yamato’s episode nor Makoto’s episode. I really do agree with all of your assessments!
Let me ask you, purely as a jdorama lover, give me your two favorite (perhaps the ones that haven’t gotten their due).
My dark horse favorite is Aoi Tori (Blue Bird).

Yet the rest of the world drools over this imitation manga montrosity." << Okay now this was just too funny!!! :D (Don't let bmwracer hear about his, or he'll have you banned from JDorama.com, lol) It took me some time (read: more than 10 minutes, lol) to warm up to Nodame Cantabile, but in the end I actually liked it. I don't love it the way the rest of humanity does, but I can see its appeal. :-)
