ahahhahaha! E.G., your penchant and talent for rhymes are unbeatable.
darn you, Kimura and your moonlighting! (yes, I’m still a lil bitter about the lack of b-day poetry this year.)

  2. Ellen Says:

    Hey Enders Girl!

Glad to have a place to write you and not have to figure out where my babbling fits in…

    Have you seen this???

It gives me goosebumps every time! Do you know the words in translation? I always think he is singing it to his kids. Wah! How subversive! Still think Style is my fave but this cheers me up a LOT on dark winter mornings. Can’t ask for much more. Well, you could but, you know he’s in Tokyo with Shizuka so… we have to settle for Youtube!

Enjoy (or keep enjoying if you’ve been watching it all along)

    Best!

    E.

Whoops, what video was this of? Was this Kimura’s solo at the 2010 con? I was out of town last week and didn’t get to check my blog. The vid must’ve been taken down while I was away. (Argh) The other streaming sites don’t seem to have it — otherwise I can just wait till I’ve DL’d the 2010 con DVD from LiveJournal.๐Ÿ™‚

      (I love Style too!!!!!!! :D)

  3. Ellen Says:

    Enders Girl!

Found this while looking for something else. Maybe you have already seen it but it bears (bares?) seeing again. I thought of you immediately as there is SO much lovely shirtlessness!

    Enjoy!

    E.

    • Ender's Girl Says:

Woot! KimuTaku in glorious dishabille!!! *E.G. explodes* Thanks for the link, E.! Yup, I saw parts of this clip in the Pop Up SMAP Video Diary DVD, which I have. I died, I drooled, and I drooled some more. Kimura never looked happier and hotter, I swear. (And Shingo in a pink diaper!!!! ROFL!) Good times, good times…๐Ÿ˜€

  4. Ellen Says:

    Hey Enders Girl!

Hope you are enjoying a super smappie new year so far! Have been wanting to write you about our fave fugitive, Mr. Bi.’s drama and now that I finally have time to do it I find I’d rather tell you about what I’m watching now. Ha!

Actually, Rain’s drama was ok. As we say of not very exciting Indian films – it was good time pass. Once you get past the first few episodes the plot kicks in and you’re actually able to keep the 250 (ok, maybe it’s not quite that many) secondary characters straight, it’s kind of fun. Unfortunately, after those first few evenings, Rain rarely takes his shirt off (damn you, Korean winter!) but… his smile remains. If you like fights and stabbings and twists and turns and goofy characters speaking wacky Korean you might like this. The romance is disappointing but for all its shortcomings – like it’s ridiculous length – I miss seeing Rain every night.

But… the drama I’m excited about and want to recommend to you stars Gorochan. Bet you didn’t see that coming. Busu no Hitomi ni Koishiteru is a complete stitch. Goro plays a comedy writer on a show called ZabtxZabt (if you say it out loud it sounds even more like the show he’s on!) who has lovely fluffy hair (natch!), likes good wine and food and has a super model girl friend. Into his life literally falls a busu – ugly fat girl who wants to be a serious actress.

You know I wanted to watch a dorama with each SMAP membah and I chose this light story before I launch into Kimura’s Mean Family drama (sigh! Why are people always so mean to him??) and yet I was worried. I don’t know what you make of the often hentai/sexist attitude of Japanese tv. I was really afraid not so much that this series would degrade the not attractive girl but that there would just be general meanness before some well deserved comeuppance. But, instead it’s actually about that very subject. Not only does it take this very determined young woman’s plight seriously but it’s actually about her NOT wanting to be an object of fun in comedy skits.

I have seen similar stories done in HK movies/dramas and they are completely shallow in comparison. But mostly I love this drama (so far – 4 episodes in) because it’s so much fun. So much of the humor is at the expense of the Japanese entertainment industry. You would probalby understand more of those jokes than I do. My fave so far is a drama writer who graduates to movies, writing his first film – Drama the Movie!

Goro is ok, too. Felt like episode 4 was the first time he was really given anything much to do. But as he’s playing a character so much like himself, his acting might just be too subtle to notice. I mean it’s not like Tsuyoshi playing a yakuza, you know?

Anyway, maybe you can check it out sometime! I love your posts. They are always insightful, funny and often rhyme! Would love to read your take on Bi’s drama just for the yuks it would provide.

Hope you’re enjoying whatever good looking Asian man(men?) you’re currently watching!

    E.
PS Sorry, if this was too long.

    • Ender's Girl Says:

Hey Ellen! No worries, I totally enjoyed reading your comment, especially your description of Fugitive (LOL @ the 250 secondary characters and Bi’s abs not showing themselves! :-)) as well as Goro’s meta drama (fluffy hair and good wine? hahaha that’s too funny! I’m sold! lol). And “Kimura’s Mean Family drama” << this had me in stitches!!!

Re the Rain drama I'm def. watching this, maybe later in the year as I have my plate full at the moment. It would be interesting to compare it to Iris and its spinoff, Athena (both of which I have yet to finish :-P). I wasn’t sold on the first two episodes of Iris, and I’m hoping the reported touches of comedy (?) in Fugitive will make my viewing experience more enjoyable this time.

At the moment I’m not watching anything new, mostly just stuff I’m re-watching in bits while trying to finish some long overdue reviews. Sorry I took so long in replying, I was out of town last week and couldn’t go online for long stretches at a time. Now that I’m home Imma have to get back into my old rhythm although it ain’t that easy as my mind is still stuck in vacation mode.๐Ÿ˜›

EG – you SO SO SO have to see this –

    giggling madly.

    • Ender's Girl Says:

Groaning madly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Several times I actually wanted to run onstage and apologize to Taylor Swift — and I’m not even a fan of hers, lol.

Love you for sharing this link here, though!๐Ÿ˜€ (Been on vacation and haven’t been able to check the LJ comms for updates and stuff, so I totally missed Taylor Swift’s guesting on SmaSma. Now I’d rather just forget it ever happened, lol)

  6. Ellen Says:

    Welcome back, E.G.!

Was wondering what you make of Kimura’s future Artic expedition. I think we were all hoping for a nice family drama (I see him as a hot widower with a cute kiddie who engineers a romance for him) and instead we end up with snow and dogs!?! I like adventure/survival stories but why can’t he get stranded on a desert island and have all his clothes fall off? Would that be SO bad?? I live somewhere where there is WAY too much snow for WAY too long so that’s also where I’m coming from… But he likes dogs and the outdoors (!) and adventure so… I figured you might be disappointed, too, as it doesn’t seem like there will be too many opportunities for him to take his shirt off, much less, get his hair wet or kiss any girls in the sub freezing zone! Sigh! At least he’ll be in a drama again.

Finding the Mean Family a total hoot! Maybe it’s just me but I’m finding it’s epic pretentions and OTT acting unintentionally funny! More later when I’m finished.

Loved Goro’s drama and am wondering what light and fluffy (not as fluffy as Goro chan’s hair – of course) dorama I can watch next. Was thinking of Shingo’s 3 Peace but it would be good to watch something without any SMAP membahs, too. Any ideas? You always have good ideas!

Hope you are coping with being back home!

    E
PS How is this for the title for your review of the new KT drama – Top Dog??

    • Ender's Girl Says:

LOL, “hot widower” is def. a role I can see him doing in his ’40s. The “cute kiddie” could be the girl from Mother, the one who guested on Bistro.๐Ÿ™‚

Hahahaha, love your desert survival story!!! You made a very strong case for the change in setting — MOAR reasons to take his shirt awfff, WHY NOT.๐Ÿ˜› Me, I’m kind of resigned to seeing KimuTaku sporting the thick anoraks and the goggles and the 3 layers of insulated clothing. No skinny dipping in ice holes I’m afraid, rats! And I suppose kissing in sub-zero temperatures may be a *bit* inconvenient as their tongues might… you know… lol X__O

“Hope you are coping with being back home!” << Yes I am, thank you very much! Missing the beach like kerreyyzeee but it's good to be back home and sit at my desk, surrounded by my books and junk and doramas hahaha

“Loved Goroโ€™s drama and am wondering what light and fluffy (not as fluffy as Goro chanโ€™s hair โ€“ of course) dorama I can watch next.” << (Bwahahahahaha @ Goro's hair comment) Um, not sure if I've recced the likes of Hotaru no Hikari and Lunch Queen? My memory is pretty sketchy and I can’t remember if it was you or another blog reader that I recced these dramas to. Stand UP! is a hilarious gem of a teen comedy that ranks among my all-time fave Jdramas because it has a lot of heart, while My Boss, My Hero is just silly, goofy fun. If you’re looking for an OL romcom, Hotaru no Hikari and Anego may just do the trick. Btw, I’m really sorry if I’ve recced these titles before and just forgot!๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Ellen Says:

    Hey E.G.

Yes, Ashida Mana will be the cute little daughter and Tama chan will be their dog!

I am also resigned to the snow and the dogs – sigh! I guess he’ll probably have a beard, too. On the upside he will get to be all heroic and manly – different kind of sigh. I’m sure it will be ok. You know what Shingo always sings – everyzing’s gonna’ be alright.

Checked out your recommends and they all sound fab, except… I really don’t like those actresses. I guess it’s just me but I find Takeuchi Yuko very phony (also she was very mean to Shingo in Bara no nai Hayana) and Ayase is just TOO light weight for me, though maybe I should give her another chance. I really enjoyed Hataraki Man. Kanno Miho was great in that. I’m not a fan of high school dramas (though I loved My Boss, My Hero) but Stand Up sounds good. Was searching around on my own and found a couple of things that sounded fun but they starred Tsuyoshi! Am thinking of either watching Satorare with Odagiri Joe (never seen him and he seems worth checking out) or Mukdono with Nagase. Leaning toward the latter. Saw a 2 parter called Chance last night because Meisa was in but sadly she was not in it enough. Still, she was looking gorgeous – natch. Maybe she could take a wrong turn from Shibuya and end up in Antartica?! Hey, it could happen!

Looking forward to watching the We Are SMAP concert next week and celebrating Shingo kun’s birhday! Hope you are having fun. Being home defo has its perks – like being online whenever you want to be without paying!

    Happy watching/writing!

    E.

    • Ender's Girl Says:

“You know what Shingo always sings โ€“ everyzingโ€™s gonnaโ€™ be alright.” << Shingo LOL! Now this bar is totally playing in a loop in my head.๐Ÿ˜€

“Ayase is just TOO light weight for me, though maybe I should give her another chance” << Byakuyakou will probably convince you otherwise.๐Ÿ˜‰

Tsuyoshi – just got mesself a copy of 99 Japanese-Americans and… um, Sinking of Japan, lol. Can’t wait to dig in.๐Ÿ™‚

Have fun @ the SMAP concert! I know someone who’s lending me her copy but we haven’t met up yet. Looking forward to Kimura and Nakai’s solos, woohoo๐Ÿ˜›

  8. Ellen Says:

    Hi Enders Girl,

For your viewing pleasure – here is some Dynamite! Aren’t these your guys with, err, your guys?!

    http://seichan1188.livejournal.com/35510.html

Will send you my take on Karei naru Ichizoku (or Who’s Your Daddy?) later but I didn’t want to lose this priceless clip.

    E.

    • Ender's Girl Says:

Thank you Ellen!!! This was a wonderful treat.๐Ÿ™‚ At first it felt so… surreal watching and listening to the Yoshida Bros. jam with SMAP, hahahaha. But I recovered soon enough, hahahaha. Dynamite is really one of their catchiest songs — and after watching this vid I kep singing the chorus in my head for days, lol. (It didn’t help, of course, that I’d just seen Johnny’s Countdown 2010/11 and Dynamite happened to be one of the songs performed by the assorted melange of circus freaks — er, Johnnies.)

Sure, I’d love to hear your thoughts on Karei. That one’s on my review list, so you may want to post your comments once the review is out.๐Ÿ˜‰ (LMAO “Who’s Your Daddy”!!!! Tonally it’s so wrong for the drama, which makes it so much more funnier!)

      • Ellen Says:

        Hey Enders Girl,

Glad you enjoyed seeing a great many of your guys together. Happily, it seems we can always find wild and crazy SMAP video to surprise us. I mean, if you can deal with no subs, there is 20 years worth of weirdness. God (or whomever) bless SMAP & let’s go for 20 more – at least!

Ok. I will save my review of Kimura’s Krazy Kazoku for later and tell you about the dorama I’m just finishing. Neither did I take your suggestions nor follow my own best judgment in selecting something to watch. Instead, amidst the excitement of our little Shingo’s 34th, I opted for Love Story. I don’t have any emoticons but if I did I would use the yawny face to describe it.

Shingo kun is only the secondary male lead. He and Yuka are very cute (natch!) and early on especially Shingo can be seen shirtless or less. This was key, of course, in keeping my interest. Am kind of shocked by how very lackluster this drama is as it is written by Kitagawa Eriko. It dates after LV but seems that it could have been written before it. The story is somewhat similar – conservative, emotionally shut down writer meets lonely quirky editor, they get to be friends, well, you can guess the rest. The apartment building is again like another character. The problem mostly lies with the direction which is very slow and bland and with the leads, especially Toyokawa Etsushi, who seems WAY too old for this and gives one nothing much to look at nor root for. But I have stuck with it and managed to stay awake when Shingo does appear. He’s blond, he’s pouty, he’s 23 – need I say more?? If you could watch it on DVD you might enjoy it more as you could fast forward through the other characters’ bits. I’m watching it streaming so…

Really looking forward to your next review. Was thinking after Karei that Kimura should be good at dealing with all those doggies after commanding that ginormous koi!

        Best,

        E.
PS Also watched your boy, Kame’s, movie Yuuki. And, no, I don’t know why.

        • Ender's Girl Says:

(Belated happy birthday, Shingy!) Would you hate me if I told you the only Shingo drama I’ve ever tried watching is Saiyuuki? *facepalm* x_O But thanks for sharing your thoughts on Love Story. After what you said I probably won’t go near the drama since I doubt my fondness of Shingo would be enough to tide me over. No hard feelings, ayt? xD

“Was thinking after Karei that Kimura should be good at dealing with all those doggies after commanding that ginormous koi!” << LOL! That never crossed my mind but it makes sense now!๐Ÿ˜€

p.s. Whut. Seriously, Yuuki, seriously? Did you feel your brain shrink a couple of ounces too? Hahahaha. I don’t know what got into you, but don’t say I didn’t warn you, lol. (Man I wish you’d tried an episode of Tatta Hitotsu no Koi instead. heheh :-))

  9. Ellen Says:

    E.G.!

Sorry to bug you again but I had to share this with you! http://community.livejournal.com/smapxsmap/455610.html

This has really made my morning – and then some!

    E.

    • Ender's Girl Says:

Wow. Two physically perfect individuals… and Shingo! Lol๐Ÿ˜€

‘Tis good news indeed. Thanks for sharing this nibbly!๐Ÿ˜‰

      • Ellen Says:

        Hey Enders Girl,

Yeah, but Shingo is also tall and handsome so I don’t get that about him not being perfect. HA! (So in love with Shingo, the SMAP memba who is at the peak of his looks, right now!). Maybe he has a cute little Ahsida Mana daughter, and like in Bara no nai Hanaya, this keeps him from pursuing romance for himself (??).

Just finished Nakai’s drama Saigo no Koi with your (other) girl Tokiwa Takako. Highly recommend it. It’s also Kitagawa Eriko (still can’t believe she wrote the snooze fest that was Love Story) and a lot like A Beautiful Life, ie, realistic and romantic all at once. And Nakai is very young and lovely in it. Think you would really like it.

        Keep it smappie!

        E.

        • Ender's Girl Says:

OMG, this is a mini-confession, but I’ve always found Young Nakai to be extreeeemely cuuuute. Hehehehe. In a way that I never found Shingo/Goro/Tsu to be.๐Ÿ˜€ So I think Imma go look for that Saigo no Koi drama. Hehehehe (And Tokiwa Takako would be a nice bonus!)

          • Ellen Says:

            Hey E.G.,

Yes, young Nakai was a sweet something. He still has his moments (Sono Mama PV). If you can’t get Saigo no Koi I have access to a sort of semi-underground streaming site and can invite you in.

In the mean time I found these awesome linkies for you (if you haven’t seen them already)!

First Kimura’s new CM which I find both hilarious and hot (a winning combination)
            http://community.livejournal.com/aramatheydidnt/1931166.html

And then these bits of fun Iso Taishou corner
            http://community.livejournal.com/smappiesubs/23230.html

The Shintaku bits are HILARIOUS and who knew that Kimura could be such a fabulous physical comedian??

Am going to watch the Ninkyo Helper special next (Meisa & Kusanagi – Yatta!) and then I think Binbo Danshi with Shun and your boy Miura.

Hope you are enjoying looking at some very nice Asian men, too!

            E.

          • Ender's Girl Says:

Thanks for the linkies, Ellen! Much appreciated, as always!๐Ÿ˜‰ (Hehe a semi-underground streaming site you say? If I ever get invited to learn the secret handshake I ain’t gonna turn that down, for sure ^^;;)

The new Gatsby CM was very… strange to watch, but you were right about the hotness — apparently the man still has it. *giggles*๐Ÿ™‚ (Good Luck mode: “You… have it!” lol) (Btw I really liked Kimura’s billowy white top, but was not digging the skinny pants. Now if that animatronic plushie had danced along with him I woulda been SOLD!)

Imma check out the Iso Taishou skits soon (I hope).๐Ÿ™‚ Speaking of skits, I recently chanced upon the real Cyril Takayama’s street magic show on late-night cable, and although it was close to midnight when the show ended, I just HAD to dig up Kimura’s Magician Zero sketches on SmaSma and I watched them all (at least the ones I have on file). I’d seen them before but it was only this time that I got to truly appreciate how spot-on Kimura’s Cyril impersonation was — from the accent to the physical appearance and mannerisms. It was freakin’ hilarious!๐Ÿ˜€

Happy watching the Ninkyo Helper SP! Am madly anticipating it too๐Ÿ™‚

  10. Ellen Says:

    Hi Enders Girl,

Glad to see you are back. Haven’t read your last entry yet so am putting a word to you here. Was kind of worried as you were gone for so long. Glad you seem ok and that you have not lost your deep and abiding love for Asian drama and the men who populate it.

I have started my own website (can you believe it was a work assignment?!) dedicated to my pretend boyfriend, Katori Shingo, which is where the song o’ the week can now be found. Would love your feedback, dear senpai, if you ever have the time. https://sites.google.com/site/mypretendboyfriend/

    Take care & happy viewing!

    E.
PS Watched Hotaru no Hikaru, one of your recommends, and loved it!

  11. Ulli Says:

I wonder if you have seen this already? In any case, it can’t hurt to send it to you and spread the lust…I mean, love, *cough cough*.

    • Ender's Girl Says:

Whoa nelly!!!!!!!!!!!!!๐Ÿ˜€ W000t thanks a bunch for this fun treat!!! Kimura being topless for like 8 minutes in an 8:24 video is pure joy hahaha. Was totally rolling my eyes though when he looked so “surprised” and “indignant” that Ryoko et al. picked *him* for this ordeal. AS IF he wasn’t already expecting it lol. And AS IF there was anyone else that 99.999999% of the viewing public wanted to see nekkid and wet on their TV screens. x__O

      • Ulli Says:

You are VERY welcome! I am happy sharing it so that I’m not the only “hentai onna” out there (and I totally haven’t watched this a few dozen times by now – na-ah, not at all, tra la la!). Hahaha, I actually particularly liked that he still did a perfect model pose in his sparkly Christmas outfit while being all “indignant” and “surprised”! I also adored the reaction from all the women on the show when he started to strip, lol!

  12. Te Wan Kim Says:

    Hey Ender’s Girl,

Are you currently in school or working? I’m still eagerly awaiting your review of the Ninkyo Helper SP and Shiawase ni Narou yo๐Ÿ˜› Jiu would be nice too!๐Ÿ˜€
By the way, is writing or journalism your major, or simply a hobby?

    • Ender's Girl Says:

      Hello there!๐Ÿ˜€

Oh, gosh, Ninkyo Helper SP. I finally got to watch it and when the credits rolled I wanted to go out and punch a kitten. Maybe when I can think about that bloody tanpatsu without feeling the urge to scream or hit something, I’ll be able to write about the good parts (there were good parts? lol). But I WILL review it.๐Ÿ˜‰ Dunno about Shiawase and Jiu, I just don’t see the appeal for me… hey these are ALL Meisa’s dramas!!! you wily fox you!!!๐Ÿ˜€ But to be honest, with my current backlog I doubt I’ll even get to watch those two dramas any time soon, sorry๐Ÿ™‚

School or working? Er, both, kind of. I finished college 10 years ago. =P I’m in gradskool and working in a field that has nothing to do with journalism or creative writing or lit or whateverrr (I did feature writing for my high school paper and edited my college org newsletter — does that count? No? I didn’t think so :P) So yeah, blogging & reviewing are def. hobbies of mine. But if you’re curious to know, I was a Bio major and my work is in Environment.

  13. Te Wan Kim Says:

    Hey Ender’s Girl,

What do you know about Akanishi Jin? Apparently Kuroki Meisa is
2 months pregnant with his child and they’re going to get married T_T. Shocking, I know. Was he a bad choice?

    • leilana Says:

Oh, c’mon. It’s her choice, and she’s a grown-up woman, so stop the drama. And why should E.G. know how Jin is in real life?๐Ÿ˜„

    • leilana Says:

P.S. They’re not going to get married. They ARE already.๐Ÿ˜€

      • Ender's Girl Says:

        Hey Te Wan and leilana๐Ÿ˜‰

Believe it or not but I got wind of the Meisanishi nuptials from you both. (I had not been to TokyHive and the Livejournal comms in ages, and that’s where I usually get my JPop dirt.) So, thank you for the info (and new fodder for my blog! haha)! I’ve done some back-reading to get the details, and I think Imma do a wee little post on the subject (never mind if it’s 2 weeks late, lol). Might as well, since my blog’s been inactive for almost 2 months anyway. (Yikes!)

Te Wan – to answer your question, I know Jinny Boy doesn’t exactly strike one as a devoted family man (I mean you can’t possibly take a man who sings a song entitled “Lovejuice” seriously, can you?), but we can’t blame him alone for this little pickle that he and Meisa are in. It takes two to do the horizontal tango, so hooking up with him (whether it was just a fling, or the two are actually serious about each other — I really dunno) was just as much of Meisa’s doing. They were probably too sloshed to use any protection, but — well, it is what it is. Whether or not they were the right choice for each other is something that’ll come out in due time. =P

  14. gaijin mark Says:

I love this quote (you can’t make this stuff up!!):

” Jin Akanishi reported registering his marriage to Meisa Kuroki. He also stated that even though both of them are still young and immature, he will continue to work hard and hopes that people will respond with kindness and warmth to their marriage.”

    • Te Wan Kim Says:

I’m just surprised they rushed into it so quickly, especially her pregnancy. I was just concerned as a Meisa fan because I’ve heard scandalous rumors about Jin, but I have no idea if they’re true or not. Well, thanks for the insight.

      • leilana Says:

Well, the rumors about them dating are quite old – although they always denied it, so I don’t think it’s that surprising. Plus, it’s not like I want to be mean, but I think their personal life is none of our business. The best we can do as fans is to cheer upon them and hope they will be happy.๐Ÿ™‚

    • Ender's Girl Says:

HAHAHAHAHAHA.๐Ÿ˜€ Made my day xP (thanks gaijinmark)

  15. Peggy Says:

Dear Girl, You are needed over on jdorama in the Kimura Takuya thread. Gaijinmark is calling for you. I’d like to see you there also. we have to put in some good things instead of the sarcasm that always erupts for some reason.
    But it’s fun this time.

  16. Hanna Says:

Will you be reviewing “Nankyoku Tairiku”? Please, pretty please, say you will, and soon!!! I love your blog, though not as much as I love Kimutaku (which I’m sure you’ll forgive me, xD).

  17. Jenny Says:

Wow, your poetry skills are awesome. Mine not so much.
Too bad there are not cool jobs in reality that are snarky jdorama writer or J-entertainment writer. My dream job—-> Iseya Yusuke’s assistant I’d be so devoted to my job as you can guess ;D

  18. Hanna Says:

Please, please, please, pretty please, do a review of Nankyouku Tairiku!!!!!๐Ÿ™‚ I did not finish watching it because it was too sad – the death of those dogs was ridiculously drawn out and I cried way too much over the whole thing. (also, I didn’t like KT’s haircut…yeah, I know, I am a deep and sensitive person, lol)

  19. Terri Says:

So…..This blog is dead then?! How sad!

  20. ralphm1999 Says:
