Projects

19 March 2010
When I began this brog — er, blog almost five months ago, I only meant for it to be a dumping site for all the dorama-related craziness in my head. But it’s become increasingly clear that this blog actually has a — dare I say it? — readership. I believe I owe it to my regular readers (now numbering about five! up from three! yay!) to keep you — them — you — abreast of what to expect in the coming weeks and months. Oh, and film reviews may worm their way unannounced in-between drama reviews. List subject to change without prior notice (blogger’s prerogative, yes?).

The Devolution of Yamashita Tomohisa (A Fairy Tale): Part 4/4 *

* To those who read (and actually liked) Parts 1-3 and have been wondering about the finale, sumimasen deshita. When I started writing this… allegory, I had a clear idea how the story would end (actually, I began with the end in mind). Right now I’m a bit stuck in fleshing out certain parts of the finale. Sorry to keep you waiting! Hopefully I’ll get this baby on the road… soon!

Now that’s a really nice photo of Kimura san. Very natural. He does take care of his diet.

  2. Peggy Says:

Don’t know how you found me out. I was late for that date.

  3. Peggy Says:

    E.G.
I thought you were my friend..and here you are outing me about my social life. To think I just got through admiring your take on ‘Love and Honor’. Ah well I forgive you.
Ain’t telling you about Alex Chu..that’s for sure.

    Peg

    • Ender's Girl Says:

Alex Who?😄 Oh, I just googled him. The dude in Pasta? Well, more hotties filling up your weekly organizer, the better, eh?😀

Oh, I’m thrilled you liked the Love and Honor review.🙂

      • Peggy Says:

I am a late bloomer as far as Alex is concerned. I never realised he was with Clazzique. I love his voice and just got his album. He plays piano and guitar. I have compared his voice to warm caramel topping slowly melting on the tongue.
He is quite a gentle man but he appeals to me as a romantic. I can imagine him being very kind but very powerful once he finds the right woman. He is defintely ready for a mate for life. He is also a chef but did not show that side in PASTA. He won’t get the girl but he won’t be a mean loser. He speaks good English having lived in Canada and his family is still there. Really the perfect Korean…so talented.

  4. jicks Says:

Heeeyy! This page is an exc idea! If you don’t mind, I might steal the idea for my blog too ^^;; …only because sometimes I get worried ppl think I’m being lazy… but I do always have things brewing inside my head lol

I am anticipating (no pressure xPP):::
    >All your proposed Kimura drama reviews.
    >Your Yamashita & Kamenashi drama round-ups.
    >The Devolution of Yamashita Tomohisa Part 4.

P.S. Eita looks insanely good in Voice so I’m thinking you need to up that series on your queue ASAP ^U^

    • Ender's Girl Says:

Pfft, who’s stealin’ what? It’s not like this was my original idea, anyway.😀 And who’s gonna call you lazy? You always have new stuff on your blog at least once a week. (Dayum I wish I could be more prolific, lol X____O)

Anyway, I’d love to see what’s brewing inside your head, too!!! (How ’bout a four-cornered “J-Actors-with-some-REAL-talent Smackdown”? Like, Shun vs. Eita vs. Tsumabuki Satoshi vs. Yamada Takayuki!!!! woohooo Though I think this will drive you INSANE from all the good looks + talent you’ll have to wade through, hahaha :D)

Oy veyyyy, that Devolution Part 4. I meant to complete it in time for Pi’s bday last April 9th, but no dice. Mebbe I should just subcontract a ghost writer to do it for me, blerg. (Or mebbe I’ll just kill the boy off (and his stupid Music, lol) two paragraphs into the chapter, hahaha)

  5. jicks Says:

Shun vs. Eita vs. Tsumabuki Satoshi vs. Yamada Takayuki??? Are you trying to kill me??? lol Actually, w/ the latter 2, I’ve only watched in 2 or 3 pieces of work so I’m not all that familiar w/ them (though I credit their talent from what I have seen.)

I’m probably closer for a Shun-Shun & Eita-kun rundown, although I still have a few spots to fill (their dramaography is looong) BUT… I do dream of the day these 2 stumble into the one series together as leads ^_^

Or mebbe I’ll just kill the boy off (and his stupid Music, lol
^^ahahaha I wouldn’t dare impede your creativity there! But whatever you do, pls just make sure his hair is straight & shiny & pretty again in the end lol

BTW, yeah, I update a tad more regularly but your posts are always much richer in content!! I would actually argue that you are the more dedicated one :))

  6. Peggy Says:

    E.G.
I sent you a PM but I think it was on the jdorama site on the Kimura thread. I would be happy if you read and find the photos I am talking about. I don’t think you have the early ones I am trying to get you to find and enlarge… and ENLARGE… for your pleasure.
Let me know if you can’t find them.

    Peg.

    • Ender's Girl Says:

      Hi Peggy,

Ohohoho, I sure found them all right… heh heh heh heh…😀

      Thanks for the Photobucket link!

      • Peggy Says:

Well now that must have brightened up your day??

I don’t really know why everyone was shocked when these appeared. It was a few years ago. I really admired the photographer because he must have very carefully placed those people just as he wanted them, and K’s digits were so delicately barely(sorry) touching anything. You have to enlarge a lot to see that nothing is as it seems. clever photog. Non Asian with him of course….
Once had a most beautiful nude of the ballet dancer Rudolph Nureyev. Decided to part with it because whoever gets my PC will wonder who this randy old woman was… or is that is still…???
There was a song lyric.”Is you is or is you ain’t my baby??”
I keep remembering the oddest things..sigh.
        Peg

  7. Peggy Says:

    Nuryev.

Lots of sites for him also. He was so marvellous. Most wonderful male dancer I think. When he jumped you thought he was just going to stay up in the air and fly. So beautiful.

    • Ender's Girl Says:

Wow. Magnificent. Was Nureyev the most perfect danseur to ever be born or what? (Although you gotta admit, Mikhail Baryshnikov is pretty cute, too! ;-)) I took up ballet lessons until I was 12, and I remember leafing through my dance books as a girl, ogling pictures of Nureyev and Margot Fonteyn and wishing so hard I could be like them. *sigh* They don’t make danseurs like that nowadays, do they? ^^,,

(You gave your Nureyev nude pic away??? Nuts! lol)

  8. Peggy Says:

Well I found a photo tonight and it is still as lovely. You should go through some of those sites and you will find that picture. I preferred him as a dancer to Mikhail. Also he was somehow a nicer person I think. MB seemed very hard to me.I could be wrong. I was wrong once before……

  9. Peggy Says:

??EITA is getting married? So Young.

    • jicks Says:

      NOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!!!
*heart shatters into a million trillion pieces*

Darn it, darn it, I just read the news. It’s confirmed. Apparently, Kimura Kaela is 5months preggers >_<. Hope this doesn't impede w/ her singing career too much though because the girl's actually been doing pretty well lately.

Sigh, my fangirl dreams are over. I am now going to have to settle for Tamaki Hiroshi as Ueno Juri's one & only lover boy lol

      • jicks Says:

^^^^^^gomen, gomen, I accidentally italicised the entire post ^^;;; how this piece of news has rocked me.

Re Peggy. Eita’s 27 this yr, Kimura Kaela is 25. I don’t they’re that young. At least they are similar ages. I mean, we’ve all witnessed much more bizarre age wedding phenomenons ^_^

        • Ender's Girl Says:

Lol, no worries, you were clearly distraught ^^,,

Oh your poor heart! Does this mean *someone* will be changing her banner and avatar soon? Heh heh (Shun’s recently reported split from Yamada Yu should be a good thing, then. Keep the balance of the Force!)

Like you, I was also shipping Eita and Juri. I mean, just think of all the wunderkids they’d spawn together: good looks + great acting talent!!!

And I agree, they ain’t THAT young if you look at normal people. But since they’re celebs, you’d think they’d at least focus on their careers first.

“More bizarre age wedding phenom” << Oh yahhh, i.e. Kame and his MILF? heehee (ok fine, they're not together anymore)😛

          • jicks Says:

            thanks for cleaning up my multiple posts btw *palms face* i’ve not been this frazzled since ju ji hoon’s booty got kicked behind the bars >_<;;;

ahem. kame has an older woman?? it's not you is it? xPP i thought i read somewhere at the start of th yr that he & koizumi kyoko were still going out??

  10. Peggy Says:

    Jicks dear,

    Don’t worry..be happy..go fishing…more fish.

Well they are babes in arms from where I am in my cave… sigh.

    • jicks Says:

hey, firstly, sorry if i offended you by the age thing ^_^ i guess i just wanted to say that age ain’t nothing but a number, as the gorgeous, super-talented late Aaliyah sang.

in a way i suppose by them getting married now, esp eita, you can look at them as being able to focus whole-heartedly on their careers as they don’t have to deal w/ anymore “distractions.” ;O

      • Ender's Girl Says:

“kame has an older woman?? it’s not you is it? xPP” << THIS. I love this. You just made my week, lolz XDDD

Ehhh I didn't know that little tart was still seeing Koizumi Kyoko. I mean, their fling was sooo 2008. (IF it happened at all, that is… for all we know Kame just needed makeup & fashion tips from a real woman, haha.)

Anyway, Eita getting hitched in his twenties — didn't Mizushima Hiro beat him to this last year?😀 Rat's Nest's career seems to be going well for him, so yeah, marriage = why not. Besides, bottom line — Eita is one insanely talented b@stard and we will continue to see great things from him in the coming years, with or without a missus to call his own.🙂

  11. Peggy Says:

    Dear E.G

I give you a link and I hope you will try it. It is long, somewhat like your reviews. It is most interesting, definitely like all your reviews.
It is true history and the various nuggets of things past that are mentioned will pique your interest I think. It is an event that has always stayed in the back of my mind and brings pictures that astound me at times. This is one review from you I would like to read.
    http://edp.org/molpark.htm

I do hope I have done this correctly.

    • Ender's Girl Says:

Thanks for the article, Peggy.🙂 Incredible story, I didn’t know something like that had ever happened. When I was a kid all I ever wanted was to swim in Willy Wonka’s chocolate river, but now I see that isn’t the best of ideas after all…

  12. Peggy Says:

    P.S.

I was nowhere near at this time….!!!!!!!!

  13. Peggy Says:

    Hey Jicks,

Don’t even worry re age. I was married when I was 24 and my true love was becoming 26…so what am I doing even grumbling re Eita and his love. I have remained at age 35 for ever… for many years. That was a good year so why get any older.🙂

Everything is all in the mind whether it’s age or anything else.

    • jicks Says:

Aah, yes, we’re all only as old as what our minds tell us!! The most important thing is being happy eh? ^_^ I think mid 20s is a common age to get married, in fact, quite a few of my friends got hitched btwn 24-27.

      @E.G.
…for all we know Kame just needed makeup & fashion tips from a real woman, haha
lol I guess we will never know. Well played though xD

      Re Mizushima Hiro, Rat’s Nest comment… not a fan I gather? ^_~;

      • Ender's Girl Says:

Noooo, not really a fan after seeing him in ZK, HK, Mr. Brain and the first ep. of Tokyo Dogs. Maybe it was the hair, because every time he reminded me of Michael Jackson’s Asian cousin or something. =P Still, he’s so cute when he speaks English, because for once it ain’t Engrish. *remembers Pi in Kurosagi the Movie and laughs*

        • jicks Says:

^lol Yes Hiro’s hair needs… something. I don’t know what it is, but it def needs some love. Re Hana Kimi, I actually didn’t mind him UNTIL I watched the Taiwanese version. To me, Hiro’s style is “I’m gonna keep coming at ya face as loudly as I can until you have no choice but to just accept me.” (not a great thing.) BTW, did you notice him in Gokusen 2??

Unfortunately, I never made it to Kurosagi The Movie. Can’t. Bring. Self. To. Be. Near. It… Is it worth my time though?

@Peggy; I agree. Contentment is a dangerous word! While we can stay as happy as heck, we should always be striving to learn & explore more about everything & everyone around us in this world :))

          • Ender's Girl Says:

Hiro was in G2??? I may have vaguely noticed him… but I was too focused on all that angry, slashy lovin’ b/w Kame and Jin, hahahaaa

Re Kurosagi the Movie: if you watched the series and hated it, there’s no way in a billion years you’re gonna like the movie, w/c is 224307 times worse because it has these quasi-literary pretensions (quoting Shakespeare!!! ooooohhhh). But it’s funny you mentioned “time,” because the movie feels so, so, so much longer than the entire drama. The one entertaining scene was YamaPi speaking unintelligible Engrish into his cell phone. Entertaining, for all the wrong reasons.😀

  14. Peggy Says:

Change of subject for a moment….Reading about Alex reminded me of a great Korean singer. In fact my favourite one I think. JJ.Kim Dong Uk. He is Korean Canadian. spent most of his early years schooling in Canada and studied jazz singing etc. He has a most unusual voice and sings many background songs on dramas. Once you hear him you will not forget the sound. I have a few of his albums. If you Google his name there are several sites for him and a lot of Youtube videos. You may like to listen. Sings love songs and sad songs but I have heard his jazz and he is on the ball there.

PS. JICKS Happiness is the state to aim at. Contentment is much more slippery and not one for me to wish for. Must be very boring to be contented don’t you think?…. what is left?

  15. wolforion20 Says:

LOL, I think a lot of people (including myself) were rooting for Bae Soo Bin. Why is it he just can’t get the girl? Why?

Ah, the mystery of drama. The nice guy/best friend always gets screwed over. Can’t wait to see more of your projects🙂

    • Ender's Girl Says:

Thanks! Heh heh you’re the first BSB >>> LSG fan I’ve encountered in a looooong looooong time.😛

Yeah, dramas tend to favor the wanker type of male lead because his eventual (and inevitable, yawwn) transformation gives the writer/PD more fodder for the story. A nice guy getting the girl in 1.3 episodes would be a far less lucrative drama than a rich wanker using up 19.3 episodes out of 24 to become a better person, haha.

      • wolforion20 Says:

I do love LSG, but have to say BSB was my fave in that drama. There are some cases when the nice guy gets the girl … to make that more interesting they have to throw every conceivable wrench into the romance mix. It gets so crazy sometimes, I wonder why I keep watching.

  16. Peggy Says:

Well they’re doing it again to Bae Soo Bin. Now he won’t get the one he loves in Dong Yi. He is so devoted and fights so hard to save her at different times. I hope there will be another female who will be there to sooth him. This drama is pretty enjoyable by the way. Nice to see a Merry Monarch in Korea for a change.
    Peg

    • zooey Says:

I don’t think Bae Soo Bin’s character was ever intended as a romantic alternative in Dong Yi. He’s been the surrogate older brother who’s been looking after her consistently, maybe in part because of his loyalty to Dong Yi’s family. I don’t really have a gripe with BSB not getting the girl this time since his investment on her is more brotherly.

“Nice to see a Merry Monarch in Korea for a change.” >>> This, I wholeheartedly agree with. At least in Dong Yi we get to see a very amiable king who’s not only fair but also smart in dealing with his subjects.🙂

  17. Peggy Says:

OOOH I almost forgot. I have to mention a person high on my list. He is altogether gorgeous and a great actor and looks good. He is KIM NAM GIL I have admired him for a long time in many dramas and films. People gave him ‘overnight stardom’ after they saw his Bidam in QSD. That was not his only finest hour by any means although he was surely great in that role. He saved that drama when it was faltering. Such panache. I cringe whenever he does the physical stunts. He has been injured so many times including in the Bidam role. Now he has just finished another tough role in ‘Bad Guy’ Not a good drama but he will break your heart. I still cannot watch all of this drama. Too hard to see how he plays such a deep character.
Now he has gone to the military which I think will help him to relax and heal his body. He is happy to be there he says and is doing OK. Bless him.
    Peg

    • wolforion20 Says:

Have to admit that I new nothing of KNG until Bad Guy came around and I only wanted to watch that drama because of Kim Jae Wook. LOVE him! He was great in Antique and Coffee Prince. But now that I know about Kim Nam Gil, I am definitely a fan. Ah, Bad Guy. So frustrating and heartbreaking.

  18. Peggy Says:

Kim Jae Wook was wonderful in Antique. I think he has the makings of a good comedy actor. Yes he is good to look at and has a terrific charm and sweetness but I think he could play light comedy roles and that takes talent. He made that pastry cook into the most likable person. the wrong actor could have made it very offputting.
I have yet to see all of bad Guy. You are braver than I to watch it all. Can’t bear to see bad things happen to Nam Gil. Silly me I know it’s a drama but I keep imagining the physical pain for him to do those stunts. I think he did them himself.

    • wolforion20 Says:

Yes, KJW did wonders with a very hard, flamboyant character that is admittedly hard to play. And he handles the serious and tragic roles well. I definitely hope to see him in more starring roles in the future.
Kim Nam Gil I am sure did most of his own stunts, which is definitely demanding and not easy. I haven’t finished Bad Guy because I have to take breaks from the overbearing melodrama of it all. KNG is a great actor as I both feel sorry for his character while also feeling angry at him for destroying his own life and happiness for the sake of revenge.

  19. Peggy Says:

With the fragments that I have seen of Bad Guy I am not sure if there are any decent people in this story. So far I think I have sympathy for KNG and KJW characters. Not sure because I have not seen the whole thing and don’t know the ending. I can’t say I am impressed with the sweetness of any of the women. I will probably make up my mind when I see it all. I am a coward about starting at the beginning and carrying it through.
It is because of KNG. I know he comes from what seems to be a loving family so he really has no tragic background. In fact he is very normal and cheerful it seems on set in between takes. Yet he finds such depth of angst and endless anguish in his roles. It is amazing when an actor can do that.

    • wolforion20 Says:

I know, it is weird to see all of these cheery KNG pics when I know him as the angsty, tormented Gun Wook/Tae Sung. It really does show is ability and depth.
You’re right, there really is no decent people in the story. We have highly flawed characters going against even more highly flawed characters.
If you are too afraid to watch entire episodes, I am writing summaries of each one if you want to check those out and can decide if you want to proceed and watch the series all the way through.

  20. Peggy Says:

    wolforion20,
Yes I would like to read your opinions re this drama. Where will you write them and what is the link please.I may then be able to watch the episodes.

    Peg
